. Dear Friends,

Each and every one of our 62,000 vines gets individually hand pruned by Mike and his crewIt’s hard to believe it’s already April and a new grape growing and winemaking season is upon us! It only seems like yesterday (last November!) that we were picking grapes How time flies when you’re having fun!

Although the Vineyard is still dormant, the season has started with pruning, pruning and more pruning! Each and every one of our 62,000 vines gets individually hand pruned by Mike and his crew. It’s a lot of work but correct pruning is crucial and will determine the quality of wine grapes produced later on in the year.

Talking about quality of grapes, last year’s harvest. The April rainfalls together with mild late season temperatures produced a long growing season resulting in excellent quality wine grapes. Those wine grapes are now wines happily stored in barrels at our winery.

On the Winery front, 2005 was a landmark year for Naggiar Vineyards. We successfully bottled and released our first five estate wines; the 2003 Sangiovese, 2003 Syrah, 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003 Cabernet Franc and 2004 Viognier. The wines have been very well received with the Sangiovese and Syrah wining multiple silver medals at the LA County Fair, the West Coast Competition and the San Francisco Chronicle wine competitions.

In addition, thanks to you, our friends and customers, sales at both private and public tasting events and at local restaurants and wine shops have done very well and have exceeded our expectations. In fact, we are proud that the following fine establishments are now carrying Naggiar Vineyards wines. Please ask for our wines when you visit them, it always helps to promote our winery.

Also, for the first time Naggiar Vineyards participated in several wine tasting events throughout 2005. In March we were at the Grass Valley Foothills Celebration in downtown Grass Valley where we took our first order for our newly released wines.

In July we had our “Movie In the Vineyard” at Naggiar Vineyards. The event was so well received that we plan to repeat it this year. August saw us pouring our wines at the Nevada County Fair followed by the September Wine Trail event where many wine lovers had a chance to visit our beautiful Vineyards. In the fall we participated in the Truckee Wine Walk & Shop event and had the opportunity to expose our wines to a new area.

In summary, the Naggiar family would like to thank you for helping make 2005 a great year and we look forward to seeing you again this year.

Tasting & Tours
.
.

The spirit of old California lives on in the Northern Sierra Foothills. The people are friendly, and share a pioneering spirit that’s refreshingly warm and authentic. Come visit a wine country where traffic jams don’t exist, wine-tasting rooms are not crowded and visitors are still warmly welcomed by owners and winemakers!

Create a memory. Make plans to spend some time with us at Naggiar Vineyards and Winery. Located just 17 miles north of Auburn, the scenic drive offers vistas of graceful Arabian horses, magnificent bison, and natural beauty around every turn in the road. After your arrival, a family member will take you on a guided tour of our vineyards and winery, then treat you to a leisurely wine tasting experience among new friends.

Visits to Naggiar Vineyards for six people or more are by appointment only. Please call 530-268-9059 to make arrangements for a tasting and tour with your friends.
